Add some fun to your online class with a Voki

You can add some fun in your class with the use of a Voki like the one above. Let me show you how to create one as well as embed it in your Blackboard course.

Creating a Voki

Creating a Voki is an easy process. Let’s begin:

1. Go to http://www.voki.com/ I would recommend creating an account for your Voki’s.

2. Click on the Create tab.

3. Click on the die to randomly change your character.

5. Change the background if you so desire.

6. Time to add a voice. You have the options to call in with your phone, record from a microphone, or enter in text. In this example, I will be entering text. I will click on the Text button.

Click on the Text button.

7. Type in your text, and click on the Done button.

8. Click on the Publish button and name your Voki. Click on the Save button and Close button.

Adding the Voki to your Blackboard Course

To add a voki to your course, open Blackboard, enter your course, and navigate to the location where you want the Voki. Now follow these steps:

1. Select Build Content and then Item. Other elements would also work. I am select Item for this example.

2. Go back to your Voki site and click on the Use HTTPS to embed in a secure page check box.

3. Copy the code displayed in the field.

4. Return to Blackboard.

5. Provide a name for your item, and click on the HTML button.

6. Paste in your code and click on Update button.

7. Finally, click on the Submit button. Your Voki should now be embedded.
