What to do when drag and drop is not working in your Blackboard courses

What to do when drag and drop is not working in your Blackboard courses

Are you experiencing problems trying to reorganize document within your Blackboard course? If so, you are not the only one. I have had problems moving items and I know of at least one professor who has had issues. I have figured out an alternative method for reordering content.

Reordering Blackboard Navigation Menu

I first experienced a problem with dragging and dropping content while working with adding the new template to some courses. When I started to drag an item to a new place, suddenly the course went crazy. Fortunately, there is another method to reorder the menu. Let me show you that method.

I noticed that the reordering issue only occurs when you have a list longer than one screen.

  1. At the very top of the menu, there is a button with two arrows. Click on this button.

  2. You should see a tool pop-up that has a list of all your menu items. Scroll down to the item you wish to move and click on the item.

  3. Use the two arrows to move the item up and down in the list.
  4. When done, click on the Submit button.

Reorder Blackboard Content

While adding content to a course, I noticed that the drag and drop function also had problems with pages longer than one screen. The steps are the same as for reorganizing the navigation menu only that the reordering button is in a different place.

  1. At the very top right-hand corner of the content area, there is a button with two arrows. Click on this button.

You should now be able to reorder your content. If you are still having issues please contact a member of the TEI team.
